5 Reasons Why You Should Hire A Graphic Designer

Mark den Hartog • Sep 02, 2020

I can’t tell you the number of times a business owner showed me a new logo that Uncle Bob spawned in PowerPoint. Like most small businesses owners who are on a budget, they search for ways to cut corners. Unfortunately, trying to save money on the very ‘look & feel’ of a business can be a costly fix down the road.

Owning a word processing program didn’t make me a professional writer nor did buying a karaoke machine turn me into a singer. There are many do-it-yourself tools out there today that make people believe they can create professional looking marketing materials without the skills and knowledge. I believe this is a mistake.

Here are five reasons why I believe you benefit with the help of a professional graphic designer.

1. Save time. Focus on the things that you do well.

What is your time worth? I’m guessing you already don't have  too much on your plate. By hiring a graphic designer you typically can have a project completed in a fraction of the time it would take for you to do it yourself, and you can begin using that piece to market and grow your business!

2. Save money. Who doesn't like extra cash in their pocket?

When a business doesn’t take its branding seriously in the beginning, it will more than likely go through at least one redesign — if not many more. Good design should have a long life span. By paying for great design once, you are saving yourself from paying for mediocre design over and over again. A professional graphic designer knows the most cost effective ways to design your materials, and will have suggestions to help keep your printing costs to a minimum.

3. Gain a new source of ideas. Two minds are better than one.

Sometimes it can be difficult to voice your ideas in words, let alone images! Creative professionals are trained to take your vision, voice and values and bring them to life. A good designer will be able to incorporate your thoughts, and also add concepts of their own in order to develop a stronger visual punch. Not only can a designer help you realize your vision, they also know how to reinforce your core message and clearly communicate it to your target audience.

4. Make a great first impression. Focus on things you do well.

People are going to judge a business in just a few seconds based on appearance alone. A professional graphic design will give your business credibility - and you can’t put a price on that. You could have the greatest product or service out there, but if the marketing materials are poorly designed not many people are going to stick around long enough to find out.

5. Get better results. Now we're talking.

It’s very simple, great designs are attention grabbing and convert to increased profits. An effective marketing piece should invite customers to take action. A good graphic designer will make sure your customers feel compelled to turn the page, visit your website, or make that purchase.

I am ready to help you reach your goals. Whether you’re in need of a logo, brochure, trade show display or more, let’s talk!

White space is a fundamental building block of good design for good reason. Not to be thought of as a waste of space, it can be strategically used in design to transform and highlight design elements and key messages.

Graphic designers aren’t mind readers. Feedback is the best piece of communication you can offer to help bring your vision, voice, and values to life. Giving feedback isn't just about what you say, it's how you say it.
